The Wave Steel String

At the behest of award-winning fingerstyle virtuoso, Martin Simpson, I developed an instrument that is more comfortable for right arm and hand position during sustained playing. Expanding on the work by Bill Cumpiano and others, the body of the guitar is narrower where the right arm rests and wider where it rests on the knee. The fingerboard is also tapered in the other direction to ensure no change in the left hand and wrist position. The internal volume of the body remains the same. Inlays or other custom decorative elements are available on request.
